Alice Sweet Alice is a female-fronted alt. rock outfit from Kansas City. Recently, Alice 102fm asked them to represent the station on their St. Patrick's Day float. Also, this past February, the group received a "Best Alternative Band" & "Best Album" nomination in the Midwest Music Awards. ASA came up with one word to describe their sound,"Electropostpunkadelic".

This is the 100th STLMU blog post! Well, I'm excited. It has been almost two years of pecking away at this thing. If you are reading this, you are the first to know about the first quarterly STLMU meeting that will be taking place at The Old Rock House on Tuesday, April 17th. It will begin at 6pm and end at 8pm. Why the Old Rock House, you may be wondering? Because last year they announced to all musicians that if you email them your band name and info. at least a week before the show you want to attend, they will put you on the guest list. To me, I think that makes them a good candidate for hosting and I really appreciate them doing this. Via Dove is the local support for the show that night. The show begins after the meeting. The main part of the meeting will be highlighted by speakers from festivals around town. The point is to help expose these events to musicians and create awareness on what they are about and how to get involved and or get the chance to perform at them. Make sure to join the facebook group page for STLMU if you haven't yet. It is for anyone interested and it is a public group. I thought it would be fitting to have the meeting about festivals since the season is now underway. Speaking of festivals, I recently received this info-graphic below.

For those of you paying attention, Rock U Fest 2011 is now a little less than two weeks away. Next week on the blog the full time schedule, lineup order, playlist for each stage will be posted in an extended feature here. Last week, the acoustic/electro stage's playlist was posted. Now it is the Fox Hole stage's turn. The main stage will be featured at the top of the extended post next week. If you are not familiar with Atomic Cowboy, which is the location the event will take place on Sept. 24th, note that the Fox Hole is actually part of the complex. The entrance is actually inside the venue itself, as the two buildings are connected to each other.
Also, in this post you will find a new release by two of the high school bands playing the main stage, one in particular is a much better quality recording and is their first ever! The other is a brand new release by one of the LouFest (Area K) artists from this year's event. Plus, be sure to see the #Video Of The Week page for this week's newest video! Here are your artists for the first annual Rock U Fest's Fox Hole stage, they are as follows:
Clockwork is a three-piece high school band making waves. Connibal Road and Corvus both just played Pointfest this past w/e on the Pop's stage. Damned Holy Rollers just straight rock and mean business, Harmony Grove is fronted by the former vocalist of Rusted Shine, but if you know John Joseph it is not what you might suspect. They are currently working on recording, so to represent his voice, you can listen to the track to get an idea. What I do know is that Harmony Grove is a country/rock band with some blues in there too and the size of the group is around seven members. Man Eating Tiger is a fairly newer act, along with veterans like Ockum's Razor and also Panic Attack. Revence is another newer act, hitting the scene, playing routinely. We also have Scene Of Irony, another veteran of the scene. The Neverhawks have a loud, aggressive bluesy-mix, lastly we have Toilet Water. A funky blend of madcaps that act as a revolving door for Ruka Puff to to continue to launch himself into the national scene. Oh, snap! Let's not forget The Sudden Impact and also Butterfly Distortion, you can check out their links, as I never received any music from them. But, they will be on this stage too.
Next up, two of the main stage artists that I mentioned above, them being The Last Round and Lost Continent. The Last Round was previously blogged with a I-Phone recording to represent them. That is how new they are, but they have that raw, punk angst that just can't be ignored. Fresh from the studio, we just got their first official recording, congrats to them on that. Also, below is a band that I really liked when I saw them live, they are Lost Continent. They just performed at the (Area K) stage at this year's LouFest. This is a brand new release for them, they just seem to continue to progress. Check out these two main stage artists for Rock U Fest. Kudos to these two up-and-comer's.

Feedback is the second act announced, they are also performing at this year's Lou Fest event. They were one of five high school rock bands that battled it out and secured a spot. In addition, they also attended Fazio's Rock Academy, their track is also a free download.
The fourth and final act for this week is none other than Sicfaist. The band just dropped a new disk recently and the song is also represented in this weeks #Video Of The Week too. It was filmed by St. Luniverse and was edited by Third Ear Productions.
Next Monday we will bring you more acts on the bill, up later this week is free music from Make Me, Break Me in support of their Pageant show this w/e & also a free download of Since 1902 recent release, as well. Lot's more on board too, including Kharma and also The Legendary Clampetts. So, stay tuned in. As, Rock U Fest develops, you will notice the playlist for each stage at the event will take shape on some of the sites. The Grea Tones Vs. The Loud Outfit! Royal Illete Productions presents these two hip-hop artists in a duel to the finish. You can like their facebook fan page pages, links are on the home page of their website.
Next in line, we have the psychedelic jam-band rock of Cronus. They offer up two tracks to us, Bless The People & also Soul-Shaker. Their next show is at Pop's Blue Moon on Friday, March 25th. Check them out:

Third, we have Lovely Destuction, they are a power-metal/thrash band. Their next show is at the Stratford Bar on June 25th. Skullfest 2011 will be taking place, it actually starts on the 24th and ends on the 25th, for all the details visit Skull Records Radio for more info. They sent over three tracks, The Hot Gates, Grave & also Sacrifice.

Fourth, I figured that I would throw this in there, I want to show you an example of what Bandcamp has to offer artists also. Here is one I made of our last release, it is digital only, but it contains the four songs on the EP. Plus, it includes the cover art and lyrics w/ synopsis of each song. In addition to a 2009 group photo taken by Angie Knost and a free video of the live, studio edit of 'Two Thieves'. All is contained in a zip-file and you can choose what type of audio file you prefer. Neato.

He supports & promotes the shinma song & has had it on his myspace page for quite some time. SMP has also had songs on a few Invisible Records compilations. Each band on the compilation is doing really well & trying to get out there!"
