Shotgun Abby makes music under the indie rock umbrella and they are doing what they love. Which is making music they like. Their latest track is entitled, "Athen's Burning". I think that the title and the lyrics for this song fit what's going on in general terms with our daily lives in this country. We are consumed daily with our personal muses and meanderings, while interacting and learning the continual blurred lines of the boundaries that seem to shrink before our very eyes. Times get tough and there are always many things that quickly come to mind as to why it has nothing to do with ourselves. When ultimately, we are responsible for ourselves and cannot control the actions of others. I do my personal best not to judge, but we all fall short at times.

This track has a nice, progressive flow that appeals to me. Shawn's vocals reign over the first verse and chorus, while Kerry's are introduced in the second and they mesh well together by the second chorus. Shotgun Abby began in 2012 and just recorded their upcoming release at BSRG Studio. Shotgun Abby's family has grown lately too. Shawn Telkamp added rhythm/lead guitarist Ross Watson, bassist Jeremy Carpenter and the latest addition of Rose Lynne Guardado on backing vocals. Tony Hunt continues to play percussion, while Kerry Duepner adds to the heat with the fire of her vocal execution. The song really sounds good quality and I enjoyed the songwriting too. I'm glad that things are coming together for them. Everyone meshes well all around the board. Decide for yourself and listen and check out their upcoming shows below the music.

I am stoked also to present the new EP by Unifyah. This nine-piece group blends styles of rock, reggae, ska, dub, hip-hop and funk. They are very hard working and some of the coolest guys I've ran across over the past couple of years. Having already heard the music live, I was impressed that the studio versions of their music has that live feel that some artists don't realize to incorporate when recording. It sounds tight. STLMU Blog's Best Of 2012 #STL #MUSIC

It's February of 2013 and I guess that I should get around to the best of 2012. Just like last year, this is based off of songs that have been submitted and then uploaded by one of our Soundcloud accounts. The only method that I track otherwise is how it performs on a loved basis via the Hype Machine. Otherwise, this is just too time consuming to follow all together for each post, plus some plays/downloads by different accounts would not necessarily be from this blog. So, without taking up any more time here are your top performers for 2012. By the looks of it, I notice that three out of these five artists were represented at Rock University Festival this past year. Hmmm... Well, what do you know?!

The Fox Hole Stage @RockUFest 2012 feature! #STL #MUSIC

As promised, part two of three features is now here for this Saturday's second annual Rock University Festival. This post shines a light on The Fox Hole Stage at Atomic Cowboy. This stage is located adjacent to the Acoustic/Electro stage. However, those double-doors will be closed to keep out any noise bleed through's between rooms. How do I get into the Fox Hole? One might ask. Well, when you enter the venue, just follow the hallway to the rear of the building and go outside to the expansive patio. When you get outside and are past the cantina area, the space opens up and you will see the Outdoor Stage. To your right will be the door to enter into the Fox Hole. Unifyah, Angerchild & VOTW by State Of Mind! #STL #MUSIC

Unifyah is an eight piece, Reggae/Rock band from the Lou. They were formerly called,"Dreadnot" and have shared the stage with the likes of the Mike Pinto Band, Jon Wayne and the Pain, Tribal Seeds, Seedless, Ballyhoo!, Aaron Kamm And The One Drops, Fishbone, Iration, Tomorrows Bad Seeds, Through The Roots and Badfish to name a few. I saw these fellas at the Poinfest finals at Pop's this winter and I must tell you that they come highly recommended. If you attended this past Saturday night's show at Pop's, you may have caught this band there for the St. Patrick's Day celebration there. It was their first show their and they were excited to have been a part of it. Their name is Angerchild and are a hard working trio that has been seven years in the making. They consider themselves to have a Rock, Grunge, Metal, Punk style and they offer up a couple of tracks for you to stream and or download.
