Makena and Brock's origins as a musical duo came about in 2007 while performing at a Children's Miracle Network benefit show. Things just clicked upon their meeting and they instantly became a musical duo and great friends. They began touring in 2009 throughout the U.S. and they got the opportunity to share the stage with James Otto, Uncle Kracker and Sheryl Crow. In the summer of 2014 they began touring withthe Professional Bull Riders providing the official Anthem performances. In addition, they also played after parties in the towns traveled along the tour. They also scored a spot with the NFL when the Rams were still in St. Louis, plus the Texas Nascar 500 Speedway and some minor league sports leagues along the way. 2014 also brought additional opportunities to share the stage with big-name artists like Chris Lane, Granger Smith, Cowboy Troy, Sam Riggs, Dylan Scott, David Fanning and Parmalee. The end of the year brought a tour with Keith Anderson.
However, the biggest break for the duo came in the summer of 2011 while performing for tens of millions of viewers and were chosen as top 12 group finalists on the American version of Simon Cowell's hit show The X-Factor. They were one of the last few remaining country artists on the show and received critical acclaim from some of the most renowned figures in the music industry. They have been featured in major magazine publications and also mainstream media websites.
