Post 18 featuring Via Dove:

Bridging the gap between pop sensibility and independent rock credibility, Via Dove manages to craft music that is at once broadly accessible while maintaining an organic, rough-hewn ethos.
Based in St. Louis, Missouri, Via Dove is the ever-evolving collaboration of Andy Shadburne, Aaron Vaught, Reid Burnett, and Mike North. Equally at home with both larger-than-life rock exuberance and understated introspection, the band delivers a unique cocktail of blues, beats, power, texture, and noise.

The songs of "El Mundo Latino" forced themselves out of Via Dove in late 2009 causing an immediate detour from a now-forgotten 10-song LP that was slated to be recorded in Nashville last fall. We spent a couple of weeks chasing riffs down rabbit holes, and when we felt content with plethora of demos, we started looking for somewhere special to further shape and record them.
"El Mundo Latino" was recorded from February through April 2010 in the Forest Park Southeast Neighborhood of St. Louis. We inhabited an abandoned restaurant & loft space and made it our secret home for two months. The first rehearsals took place without heat or running water, but before long, the space was aglow with new Via Dove material.

You can get the record at Vintage Vinyl or here: http://bit.ly/fTKzrC

To get the whole story of how we recorded El Mundo Latino, watch the "making-of" documentary we put out.
http://www.vimeo.com/16080603

Their next show is Saturday, 12/11 at The Firebird, with Tilts and Flaming Death Trap. Admission is only $8. Get all the details here: http://on.fb.me/i9y01W

*"Fast Times" by Via Dove was removed on 2/8/12. To follow Via Dove and see their progress, visit their website HERE. They do not have any free downloads available.

Post 17 featuring Butcher Holler:

Butcher Holler is an three-piece Americana, Rock, Country group of seasoned veterans that have just the right balance between the three members and style attributes listed above. Their songs also sometimes tend to have a honky-tonk vibe to them. St. Louis has many great Rockabilly groups that branch off into different directions and genres. Butcher Holler even hints on these categories, as well. On Saturday, Nov. 20th they will be doing a special honky-tonk set at the Way Out Club that we all know and love. Below are three tracks by the group, each has a video embedded in the song's widget w/ flyer art, but you have to view them on Sound Cloud. Their song, 'Eva' was shot live at KDHX. The promo flyer for the event is listed below, as well as the three tracks & videos that accompany them:

The Morley's are a jazz-infused rock band that I keep seeing popping on the radar, usually I don't post songs unless they are free downloads, but they submitted this and I like it. Their next show is at The Pageant, it is a FREE show on Nov. 19th w/ ticket, print your ticket out HERE. In addition, they were in the top 5 finalists of the Metro Music Playoffs that just happened this past weekend. Here it is, it's called,'Not Quite What You're Looking For'.

Not Quite What You're Looking For by The Morleys

Finally, we have two songs from artists that have appeared on the blog before. They didn't send these along with the first song or two that they submitted previously, so I waited a couple of months to post about them again. Post Nuclear Trash offers up 'Going Nowhere' and Bud Summers presents us with 'One More'.

*"Going Nowhere" by Post Nuclear Trash was removed on 2/8/12. You can get free downloads by the group by visiting their Reverbnation HERE.

02 - Eons - One More by BudSummers

Again, artists, please if you use Sound Cloud to submit your music, you must have it available for FREE download. If you don't want it public on your Sound Cloud account, make it private to share with just us. We will post your buy link, but we are trying to offer your talent to new listeners, as a musician I understand but I need to stick with the guidelines I have made for this blog. Hope you enjoy!

STLMU Post 5- Featuring One Day (Week of 6/21-6/27) :

One Day's bio reads, as follows:
(This was provided by their label's site Freeze Records.)

Catchy Songs, Clean Lyrics, Strong Vocals, Truly one of the best drummers in the area!! This is definitely one of the bands you don't want to miss.

Bio: On June 21, 2008, we released our debut album Therapy to the public. On October 24, 2008, Therapy was released world-wide on iTunes and through several other online and retail (in-store) distributors. The album include seight tracks and a whole lot of meaning. Every song has feeling, rawness, and truth written within. It is the very first album from the band, but far from the last.

On April 10, 2010, we signed a recording contract with Freeze Records. The same day we started work on our new six track EP album titled, Believing Is Everything. Our goal with this album is to surpass our last album with more powerful songs and a world wide iTunes release, along with several other online/retail (in-store) distributions. Our album target release date is July 4, 2010. With the help from Freeze Records, we will be targeting major markets and pounding every country with our music!

We have all come from separate directions that have fused together to create the style we have today. A "straight-to-the-point" style with lyrical depth, strong melodies, and a hard-hitting rhythm. We have one goal, to spread our music to every person willing to listen." - One Day

- Friction & Reason For Leaving were removed on 2/28/11.

STLMU Post 4 - 6/14 to 6/21 features Bud Summers :

Bud Summers enfolds, transcends and reiterates the genres of blues, jazz and rock with masterful guitar performances and smooth, jagged vocals. Bud Summers has been imbued with a musical heritage. His dad played upright bass and had his own eight piece orchestra that performed swing, jazz and pop standards. His mother was a music educator and instilled in her children an appreciation for opera and musicals as well as classics by the masters.

Bud’s formal music education began with violin lessons at the age of five, piano at seven and he gravitated to guitar by age fourteen. He was soon thereafter performing in clubs with his father, accompanying singing at church, and playing gigs at block parties and the like with a rock band.

He earned a B.A. in music performance (classical guitar) from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville and also played in the college jazz band. He performs mostly in the St. Louis area, but has traveled to play in fourteen states as a solo act, and as part of duos, trios and larger combos. He’s been a featured instrumentalist on nine records and has had two of his songs recorded by other artists.

In live shows Bud Summers uses a digital looper on his guitar to enable him to layer multiple guitar lines live as he sings. For percussion he uses his left foot on an over-turned wooden bowl with a tambourine straddling it. To enhance vocal lines he also uses a TC Helicon Voice Tone Harmony G device. His main guitar is a Godin and his PA system is a Fishman Soloamp.

His first full-length solo project "Golden" was released in May of 2008 and he is currently working on another solo project tentatively titled "Big World" which is scheduled to be released in early 2010.

Here is his song,'I Might Fall' from his last release available for FREE download.
