Saence:
"Relics" by Saence review:
Saence released "Relics" this past October of 2016 at a Halloween showcase/CD Release show at The Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville, IL. after debuting some of their new stuff on 105.7 fm The Point's local show. Dean, Tim, Rya, Jackie all produced this six-song album on location with Shock City Studios. This latest effort by the band flows eloquently and Dean explained that they are really proud of the hard work put in on this album and that they think it is their best, so far. From the lyrics, to the songwriting and the overall sound of "Relics". It shows and it is noticed when you listen to it. But first, one must think to themselves of one key word. That is Saence. Close your eyes, imagine candles burning, the mystic smoke in the back round, cloaked figures in the darkness, symbolism and imagery, etc. You get the picture now. Track one "Pretty Sorry" has a fluent intro that embraces the listener, once engaged in the sound it provides a punchy-hook that leads into a song structure that shows the band's continued growth and sophistication on all fronts. The song seems to be about a failed relationship of some sort that had to be ended from the perspective of one that did everything they could to help. Surely, it is a stand out track. The second song "Red Flag" seems self-explanatory enough. It has some cool guitar work in it too and also some interesting triplets thrown in on the rhythm section during the chorus. "Chinese Up" is another stand out song. One might guess upon listening to it that it was named this appropriately by the oriental sounding guitar work and the up beat groove to it. "Lust(Er)" is another good one. One might sense some slight sexual undertones to this song. Musically, it has interesting ideas and the vocals shine on this one. Finally, "Into Forever" is track six. It is the longest of them and this one really stood out upon multiple listens of this disk. From it's subtle beginning to the crescendo progression at the end that one-eighties into the intro vibe upon first listen it is truly amazing to hear. Dynamic and powerful and well thought out. "Relics" is not going to be a relic anytime soon in many a listener's album collection.

http://blankrange.bandcamp.com/album/vista-bent
(The info. on the Wild Reeds is taken from the event page on Facebook and as is follows below:)
The Wild Reeds can be defined by one word: Harmony. The sound from this LA based band fronted by Kinsey Lee, Mackenzie Howe, and Sharon Silva dips in and out of multiple genres - some ethereal folk, some rock and roll rhythm and a hint of country twang (from Nick Jones and Nick Phakpiseth), but it all comes back to the root of this bands power: harmonies that create an instrument in and of itself.
The Wild Reeds released their formal debut album Blind and Brave, in August 2014 at The Troubadour in West Hollywood. The album, produced by Raymond Richards at Red Rockets Glare Studios (Local Natives, Parson Redheads, Honey Honey, Dustbowl Revival), expounds on loss, love, growing up, and the experience of artists and workers pursuing their dreams.
https://youtu.be/osW7rC4YiXw
The Wild Reeds spent most of 2016 on the road with stops at SXSW, Nelsonville Music Festival, Pickathon, Summerfest, Winnipeg Folk Festival and support and headline tours throughout the USA and Canada. In May, the band released a 3 song EP called Best Wishes that continues to display the growing and maturing artistry from the 3 unique songwriters. The EP was recorded by the band at NRG Studios in Los Angeles and was mixed by Doug Boehm (Girls, Dr Dog, Twin Peaks). The band are finishing 2016 in the studio working on their next album...

Blank Range formed in Nashville in 2012 and released their debut EP Phase II in 2013. The band was met with great acclaim early on in their career, with Rolling Stone stating “It's inventive rock & roll free of prefixes and modifiers...an imaginary Lou Reed-Mac Demarco punk band, packed with so many clever, catchy riffs and rip-rolling percussion." Consequence of Sound said, "No idea how they captured the whole Mitch Ryder vibe, but their soulful Detroit scruff is uncanny, adding a little more fuzz to the base than, say, Merge darlings Reigning Sound...I haven’t squeezed in a Big Star comparison yet, but the way Blank Range bounce off their scales is definitely akin to Alex Chilton’s best work. Band rules."
Recently, American Songwriter premiered the band's first official music video for their song "Circumstances."

Music Monday Flashback Featuring #ThreeSixtySmile
Three-Sixty Smile was not your typical rock band. These Saint Louis legends were originally founded in 2004 by former members of the band Mindrive Josh Herr (Vocals/Guitar) and Joey Natas (Drums). During this transformation period they were rounded out by guitarist Jonny Baynes and bassist Jeff Boyer. Josh had thought provoking lyrics and the music was balanced by both driving and melodic guitar riffs that came across infectious and refreshing. He liked to write about the everyday challenges in life. Notable influences of the band were as follows: Cold, Socialburn, Crossfade, Seether, Blue October, Metallica, Motley Crue, Marilyn Manson and Nirvana.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjeFHwF4VUw
The band had been featured and received both commercial and specialty spins on many regional stations including: KPNT 105.7 The Point (St. Louis), 19th market WVRV 101.1 The River (St. Louis), 19th market KBBM 100.1 The Buzz (Columbia, MO), KKID 92.9 (Rolla, MO), KBVU 97.5 The Edge (Storm Lake, IA), KANR 92.7 The Fly (Wichita, KS), WLCA 89.9 (Godfrey, IL), KANR 99.9 The Fox (Columbus, MS), and WDLJ (Carlyle, IL). They also got spins on a numerous number of college and independent radio stations all over country. 360 had been featured on countless internet outlets as well including iChannel, GarageBand (featured artist), Alternative Addiction (featured artist) PureVolume, MySpace, PartyTown, Hollywood Records, KRUSH Radio and countless others.
Three-Sixty Smile had the honor of sharing the stage with a lot of great acts over the years highlighted by performances with Blue October, Cold, Static X, Buckcherry, Smile Empty Soul, Socialburn, Shortie, Flyleaf, Blood Simple, American Head Charge, Billy Talent, Adema, Candlebox/ Kevin Martin & the HiWatts. 360 was also crowned winner of the 2006 Battle for Pointfest in Summer 2006 which earned them the right to open 105.7 The Point’s "Pointfest 18" along side such great acts such as Shinedown, Coheed and Cambria, Avenged Sevenfold, Trapt, Hurt and many others at UMB Bank Pavilion. (Now Hollywood Casino Ampitheater). Because of their rapid expansion, 360 headlined or played every major venue in St. Louis and the surrounding regional area with very notable shows at UMB Bank Pavilion, St. Charles Family Arena, The Pageant, Pop's, The Hard Rock Cafe, Mississippi Nights and The Blue Note and All Stars among countless others. 360 Smile had a huge CD Release party for their Change Your World EP at Pop’s (Sauget,IL) with over 1000 in attendance. The band toured regionally two years spanning a 900 mi. radius in the Midwest and south with dates in twelve states. In addition, they were invited to SXSW in Austin, Texas. Their relentless style and powerful live show pushed the band to gain an ever-growing fan base of rabid 360 fans. They were managed by Justin Boyd for quite some time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STDpYjza0CM
In 2005 Three-Sixty Smile received sponsorship from Budweiser to become part of the True Music Live program. This was a major step for the band and the relationship between the band and Bud True Music. The band was also picked up by Spector basses in 2005 as well.
Three-Sixty Smile sold over 5000 units of their first two independently released CD's titled "Sex Is A Weapon" & "Mindriven". SIAW and Mindriven were respectively produced by Kevin Gerdes and Allen Hessler (Story of the Year, Calico System, Unchained, New Empire w/ Bert McCracken/The Used) and have proven to be a milestone for 360 Smile and the direction of their music. The band released their highly anticipated EP “Change Your World” in October of 2006. Credits on this release include engineers Paul Altnether and Jimmi Gunn (Steve Ewing/The Urge, Skrimshaker, A Bit Shifty, Logic) along with producer Jon Armstrong (Colony/ MCA Recording) and mastering by Brad Sarno (Blue Jade). In September 2006, 360 Smile was signed to In The Loop Records, an independent label based in St. Louis. They went to Los Angeles to record their full-length label debut with Kris Kohls (Adema) and Tom Baker mastering. It was set for a tentative release in 2007. Things did not work out with the label and in the fall of 2009 Josh Herr passed away. In January of 2010 a memorial show was held in the honor of his life at Pop's Nightclub And Concert Venue in Sauget, IL. The band will always be remembered for their passion and drive during their time spent together. Their music and memory will always live on.
