The Kings of Comedy Rock PSYCHOSTICK Announce "The Veloci-Turkey-Saurus Rex Tour"

For fans of Dethklok, Bloodhound Gang, Tenacious D, , Weird Al Yankovic, Primus, Stephen Lynch, Mr. Bungle.

The kings of comedy rock PSYCHOSTICK announce they will be embarking on "The Veloci-Turkey-Saurus Rex Tour" presented by Zildjian with support from Arsonists Get All The Girls (on select dates), Kissing Candice and Raven Black. The tour will kick off in St. Louis, MO on November 2nd and wrap up in Pittsburgh, PA on December 9th. The band of jokesters have been busy writing new material to exclusively share with fans on this tour to follow their 2014 treasure "Revenge of The Vengeance" that featured tracks of comedy genius such as "Obey The Beard", "Dogs Like Socks", "Quack Kills", "Bruce Campbell" (a tribute to the 21st century's most beloved action hero), "NSFW" featuring Bill Manspeaker (founder of Green Jellÿ) plus a spoof cover of Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" among many more.

"Although Zildjian is nearly a 400-year-old company, Alex from Psychostick has not been playing its cymbals exclusively for quite that long (just for the past 10), we are extremely excited that they are sponsoring the tour to celebrate his 10-year anniversary as an endorser. The line up for this tour pretty cool, it's a great mix and each band offers something memorable. I'd love to watch this show as a fan without all those "got-a-show-to-play" responsibilities. So while I'm backstage doing lame guitar warm up scales, I'll be imagining how much fun I could be having in the audience watching Arsonists Get All the Girls tear everyone a new asshole, and I'll live vicariously through the applause and excitement I hear." says guitarist Joshua "The J" Key.

In addition to the tour, the band like to remind fans that No-Shave November is getting near and to be aware by embracing their hair, which many cancer patients lose and letting it grow wild and free. Donate the money you would typically spend on shaving and grooming to educate about cancer prevention, save lives, and aid those fighting the battle. They ask fans to share their video "Obey The Beard" with the hashtags #obeythebeard and #noshaveovember and to please donate to:

About:

Harnessing their crazy sense of humor and love of all things metal, vocalist Rob “Rawrb” Kersey and guitarist Josh “The J” Key joined forces with drummer Alex “Shmalex” Dontre and bassist Matty J “Moose” to create Pyschostick, and a style of music they've coined as 'humorcore'. With hilarious lyrics, heavy riffs, notorious stage antics and high-energy performances, the band has caused millions of laughs around the world and hundreds of mosh pits across the US of A, often simultaneously, since its birth in Phoenix, AZ in 2000.

Now residing in Chicago, IL, the almost 100 percent do-it-yourself laugh factory Psychostick have released four full-length albums–‘We Couldn’t Think of a Title’ (2006), ‘Sandwich’ (2009), ‘Space Vampires VS Zombie Dinosaurs in 3D’ (2011) and ‘IV: Revenge of the Vengeance’ (2014)—and two EPs—their holiday album, ‘The Flesh Eating Rollerskate Holiday Joyride’ (2007), and ‘The Digital Appetizer’. With their signature sound (Chimaira, Machine Head and Hatebreed sexing Tenacious D and Weird Al Yankovic) their most recent offering, the crowd-funded 'IV: Revenge of the Vengeance' includes the beard anthem 'Obey the Beard' and popular 'Dogs Like Socks', 'Quack Kills', 'So. Heavy.', 'Blue Screen', and a tribute to the 21st century's most beloved action super hero, 'Bruce Campbell'. Psychostick are crazy to share with fans many more comedy sing-a-longs on the road and more!

THE SAFES ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM 'TASTY WAVES' NOW AVAILABLE ON HIDDEN VOLUME RECORDS:

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “HOMETOWN”
ON STEREOGUM

simple but mesmerizing pop” - Pitchfork

smart, melodic music” - NPR Music

The Safes are thrilled to announce their new album, Tasty Waves, produced by Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, The Shins, Into It. Over It.) and came out September 8th on Hidden Volume Records. The Chicago-based band of brothers have been gaining fans and critical acclaim for years now, with past releases gaining praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, NPR Music, and The Washington Post, to name a few. Today, they share the music video for lead single “Hometown” with Stereogum, who hail the song as “a two-minute blast of good old fashioned rock’n’roll fun.” Directed by filmmaker and animator Patrick Oleksy, the video aims to “combine the use of negative space while utilizing the background layers of colorful and active neighborhood-filmed footage,” therefore “bringing thousands of animated character drawings to life for each and every frame.”

The Safes will be embarking upon an extensive US tour this fall. All upcoming tour dates are listed below.

Watch the video for “Hometown” via Stereogum or YouTube

Fresh and hot out of the indie pop rock n roll oven that is The Safes, comes the newest addition to their glimmering discography, Tasty Waves, out September 8th on Hidden Volume Records. A lush blend of acoustic rhythm guitars mixed with fuzzy rock n roll tones and bursts of electronic and organic piano, all backed by funky bass work and lively, dance party backbeat drums. The Safes deliver another winner with a weird batch of lyrics sure to make you laugh, think, wonder, cringe, and scream, “hell yeah!”

The Safes possess that unique chemistry that only exists when a talented group of siblings form a band.

Call ‘em “garage-kissed power pop
- (San Francisco Chronicle),

atomic pop” - (Rolling Stone),

or simply “wild and crazy
- (Chicago Tribune).

The Safes have collected plenty of accolades for however you’d like to sum up their songwriting expertise and sharp showmanship. Tasty Waves finds the brothers O’Malley (Frankie and Patrick), drummer Dex Fontaine, and bassist Curt Schmelz bringing the music of The Safes to both their loyal fans and a whole new set of ears. This isn’t just any other indie pop rock n roll record - Tasty Waves is a musical and lyrical hang ten complete with wipeouts and endless full tunnel runs top to bottom. Records as special as this one don’t make it to the beach as often as they used to.

CD Release Show Thurs. 10/26 w/ #HMPHkc (@HaymakerRecords) #sMallWaveskc @OppositeDayATX @recordswmerritt #KCMO

This Thursday, October 26th from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm there is a CD Release show with HMPH (KC), sMallWaves (KC) and Opposite Day (Austin, TX) at Records With Merritt in Kansas City, MO. Visit HERE for the event details on Facebook. Continue on for bio's and more info about the artists performing.

HMPH! (pronounced “HUMF”) is the two-piece math-rock outfit of Ryan Lee Toms (RLT) and Jonathan Thatch. With only drums, guitar, looping pedal and effects, the concept is simple but the music is not. Using staples of the math rock genre, such as technical patterned guitar riffs, odd time signatures, and herky-jerky start/stops, the band greets the listener with a jarring wake up. A strong sense of melody and song structure cement a listening experience filled with unlikely anthems. Their debut full-length vinyl release Headrush was released on limited edition cassette in April 2015 with 12-Inch random opaque vinyl available on August 21, 2015.

sMallWaves is an experimental, math rock band from Kansas City, MO.
From the ashes that remained from NOW/here, Jared and Brent soldiered forward with nothing but the same life to create music together that followed to  formula and they created sonic canvases of dynamics, textures and emotions. Enter singer/guitarist Jeff Treese, formerly of The Trogladytes and guitarist Brent Nolan who always wanted to play bass. sMallWaves recorded a short, three song EP "Elephant" that was followed bt another EP "Poisonous" in the fall of 2015. Soon after the group took a dramatic turn was when fellow soul Logan Parks of Columbia, Missouri joined the group as vocalist and third guitarist. He put his vocals on the existing tracks and the latest "sMallWaves" EP was created. The band is currently writing, molding and creating new music as well as playing local shows every month.

Opposite Day (Austin, TX) is as follows:

Greg Yancey – Bass and Vocals

Sam Arnold – Guitar and Lead Vocals

Eoghan McCloskey – Drums

Opposite Day is a progressive rock band formed in 2001 in Austin, TX. They specialize in dense jigsaw-puzzle art-pop songs that leverage agressive instrumentation, jazz complexity, and absurdist lyrics to create what they call “Educational Art-Rock for Animals”. They’ve self-produced about 10 albums thus far, mostly on their Future Banana Replacement label. They have been voted a top 10 experimental and/or punk band in the Austin Chronicle most years of their existence and have continued to push the boundaries rock thoughout their career. They like to drive up to Kansas and places like that to play shows. They all have cats.

Some highlights:

2017: I Calculate Great, an album with orchestral, prog-metal and funk influences, recorded by Greg, art by Tim Doyle

2017: 14 mics, 0 plans, volume 1 – an all-improvised live recording

2016: Eoghan McCloskey joins the band

2015: Space Taste Race Part 2, which contains a 7-song score to the silent classic “Voyage dans la lune”, recorded by Greg

2014: Live at the Hole in the Wall, a non-improvised live recording from 2 wonderful shows

2013: Space Taste Race Part 1, an EP co-produced and mixed by Dan Rathbun of Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

2007: Safety First, real good album recorded by Michael Crow and Greg

2005: Pat Kennedy joins the band

2005: Fictional Biology, HEY, good album recorded by Clayton Scott and Chris Kline

2005: music video for Girl Spy; Super Spy by Andy Sharp wins a prize

2003: Economics for Mr Ugly, not bad for a first album. Recorded by Chris Kline (Miranda Lambert)

2001: Opposite Day formed on World Meteorological Day by Greg Yancey, Sam Arnold and Ethan Herr.

Greg Yancey plays bass and built the basses and guitars that Opposite Day plays. As an unorthodox multi-instrumentalist with experience with the art-rockers Megafauna, as well as Sweetmeat, Sam Arnold and the Secret Keepers and Sarah Sharp, Greg plays things on the bass that no ‘normal’ bassist would try. Greg repairs guitars and masters albums for other people too. But he’s busy now, so don’t ask him.

Sam Arnold, the lead singer, lyricist, and guitarist considers songwriting an industrial habit and guitar playing more effective than shouting. He has collaborated with Sarah Sharp and Sweetmeat as a sideman and composer, and likes to make solo albums non-stop, in styles ranging from Americana to metal and electronic. He plays bass in Austin progressive rock band Stop Motion Orchestra. He’s also composed a string quartet for the Golden Hornet project, and has produced and arranged Zirque Bois D’Arc’s debut album. For Opposite Day, plays his Yancey guitar through two amps at the same time in order to confuse predators.

Eoghan McCloskey joined the band on drums in late 2016. Born in Ireland to a musically accomplished family, Eoghan put down deep roots in the Texas metal community with Vex starting in 2000 and later Bat Castle and Dragonwrench. Later branching into Jazz and prog, Eoghan became a sought-after session and live player working with a diverse range of artists. He presently plays with Matt Butler’s avant garde big band project, End of the World Orchestra. He also continues to performs live with The Invincible Czars and to work as a live and recording session drummer with acts including the Mitch Chandler Trio, Cha Blasco, the Jon Klekman Quartet, Scottish Thunder, Your Friendly Ghost, Christopher Trebue Moore, MJ Torrance, and many others.
