@mikejudyprsnts : @Cemeterysuncrew (Sacramento) @firebirdstl this Wednesday 4/12
Taking place this Wednesday, April 12th at The Firebird is a concert by the band Cemetery Sun (Sacramento) brought to you by Mike Judy Presents. For more on this event visit the official Facebook event page HERE. Local support is TBA. Let's hear some more on this band and their latest album and single below.
Speaking on the tone of the new track, lead singer Josh Doty offers up that, “POS represents the lack of kindness you see in the world today - a world full of people who seem to have forgotten what it means to have humility and show kindness to people who are different than they are.”
Sacramento, CA quintet Cemetery Sun — Josh Doty (Lead singer), Elliot Polokoff (Rhythm Guitar), Matt Scarpelli (Lead guitar/background vocals), Austen Butler (Drums), Jesse Mancillas (Bass)—thrive on merging those extremes. The group’s name nods to their alchemical mixture of alternative, pop, r&b, and even a little electro, yielding a musical concoction that’s as irresistible as it is inimitable.
“Cemetery Sun is where the darkness meets the light,” exclaims Josh. “You might be in a dark place, but you see that light and gravitate towards it. The name meant something to us, because that’s exactly what we would be doing with this band. It also sounds like some shit Batman would say,” he laughs. Dark Knight-worthy monikers aside, the musicians first came together in 2013. Knowing each other from the same local scene, synergy proved instantaneous. They began to perform regionally and build a buzz in Northern California. Instead of touring exhaustingly, as most burgeoning acts do, they hit the studio—hard. With Elliot serving as an “in-house” producer, the guys penned nearly forty songs, honing their chops in the process.
“We spent an entire year in the studio just writing,” recalls Elliot. “We would crank out three-to-four songs per session. We aimed to make songs that we want to hear with really compelling instrumentals and meaningful lyrics about what we’ve been through.”
Since 2016, Cemetery Sun have toured alongside The Struts, Missio, Vinyl Theater and Finish Ticket. Along the way, they’ve garnered early acclaim from Alternative Press and California’s Submerge Magazine. Now, they’re ready to make a big mark on alternative music.

#STL #MUSIC Artist Spotlight: Neil & Adam, #Pop #PopRock Artist ( Twitter handle:@neiladammusic )
Meet pop, pop-rock artists Neil McCloskey and Adam Hilligardt. Two musicians from the Kirkwood area that come from a family that has a history of creating music. Neil and Adam are currently recording an EP locally at Sawhorse Studios in South City which they plan to release late this summer. Their passion comes from the love of songwriting and the joy of touching people through the magic of music. Adam inherited a talent and instruction from his father who once worked for Motown Records among artists who are now household names. Neil's inspiration came from his Godfather who played the drums for Reba McEntire until his life was cut short along with seven other gifted and outstanding musicians in a plane crash in 1991. From the first time they hung out together their guitars were present. They always are and have been since. Neil and Adam have always been inspired by great writers in their lives and are driven to help inspire and touch listeners or writers alike. A brief list of the some artists who have inspired them include: Eric Clapton, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Peter Gabriel, Colin Hay, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, Jeff Lynne and The Who. The duo have released singles via AMAdea Music, Bongo Boy Records and LMC Records. Visit their website HERE for a link to purchase their music and keep up to date with them. Currently, they are in the top 100 on the Euro Indie Music Chart. In addition, their single, 'Everything Is Alright' received airplay on national UK TV (ITV's 'This Morning'). Let's shine a light on them, open our ears and see what they have in store for us, shall we?
