#RabbitPunch "First Round Knock Out" Review

Hailing from St. Louis, Missouri, punk rockers RabbitPunch hereby present their debut full-length "First Round Knock Out", an album which channels the influence of seminal punk rockers such as the Groovy Ghoulies, the Ramones and early Green Day into a new sound of upbeat, fun power punk.

Song Synopsis:

"Comic Books Kept Me Up All Night” is a song about weekly Wednesday trips to the local comic shop.
Admin Leaving Fun” is about a boring day at the office which takes a surprising turn for the better.
Nightcrawler” is about the Marvel comics' X-man.
When Jimmy Talks” is about a mere mortal who seems possessed of godlike powers.

RabbitPunch is:

Vocals- Danny Nichols
Guitar- Ron Corona
Bass- Michael Wilkes
Drums- Ed Martinez

Genre: Rock, Punk Rock

The self released album is available worldwide now. Get it on hardcopy or digitally at CD Baby. It is available everywhere else music is sold digitally. Stream the tracks on Spotify. You can also find it on iTunes.

Album Review:

"Comic Books Kept Me Up All Night" is a fun track. The chorus is catchy. It is a pretty straight forward pop-punk song, but don't let that fool you. Sometimes it is good to keep it simple.

"Admin Leaving Fun"" is an upbeat rocker that is also a storyteller song. It makes the listener imagine and relate that life can full of surprises.

"Nightcrawler" has a slight hint of a darker feel without escaping the pop-punk vibe. It definitely sounds reminiscent of the Ramones and that influence shines here. It has an adventurous feel.

"When Jimmy Talks" starts off raw and has a story to tell of a fearsome character with an ego. You just might find yourself bobbing your head from side to side in the chorus and then singing along before it is over with.

New @Strych9Musik With "Overdose" Review

Artist: Strych9 Musik
Album Name: Overdose
- (Release date 9/5/17) -

Listen to Overdose by Strych9 Musik #np on #SoundCloud

Music producer and songwriter Strych9 Musik just released "Overdose”, an R&B compilation album, solely produced by him, on all digital platforms on Sept 5th, 2017.

Overdose” features tantalizing melodies and passionately conveyed lyricism from great artists such as Ashten Majors, Fitzgerald, Ryan Drews, RoyyalT, and Ashley Nicole that delivers an emotionally charged story of passion, sensuality, heartache, and breakup that R&B fans can identify with.

Fitzgerald performs the lead single on “Overdose”. His distinct, smooth, and sensual voice conveys a situation where he realizes his fantasies and intimate encounters with another woman is affecting his current relationship.

“Heartbreaker” is performed by Ashley Nicole feat. Chi The Realist, whose soulful voice and unique texture delivers an emotionally charged story of a woman whose selfishness brings about the demise of her relationship, breaking her man’s heart.

S.I.N.G.L.E.”, by Ryan Drews, was written after a recent break up with his ex-girlfriend. He was at a stage where he just wanted to enjoy the ‘single life’, but his ex-girlfriend continued to question his whereabouts and whom he was spending time with.

This album is an opportunity to showcase Strych9's abilities as a music producer working on a full-scale project and gives exposure to artists he's built relationships with over the years. Strych9 is a music creator, producer and owner of Magnum O.P.U.S. based in St. Louis, MO. He is the founder of “We Create Music”, a growing social community of music creators that believes in collaborating and empowering other music innovators and entrepreneurs.

'Overdose' Review:

"Overdose Intro" has a soft, chill vibe with some cool synth and syncopation with the vocals and the percussive beats.

"Overdose" is a moody ballad with a magical rhythm and blues flavor mixed with some hip-hop. He uses some nice falsetto in the title track of this album.

"Revolver" has a female guest vocal on this one and it has some excellent harmonies throughout the whole song. It also has some nteresting usage of the different keyboard ideas and effects used.

"Body Language" is another ballad with a passionate bounce to it. There is a guest female vocalist on this track also, but is not featured soley as this is more of a duet about love.

"Better Not" has an atmospheric quality to it and it has some hooks in there too.
This one will make you feel like you are flying or could be a good driving song.

"Heartbreaker" is a break up song and it has another female guest vocalist on this one. It is more focused on the female perspective lyrically. Strong melodies are a positive to this song.

"Suck It Up" has a fun dance vibe to it. This song is also female fronted vocally.
It is about personal reclamation and pride.

"S.I.N.G.L.E." is about living the single life coming from a free-spirited male perspective.

Connor Low was born in Saint Louis, Missouri in the spring of 2000. Growing up in a very musical family, Connor was influenced by his talented uncles and cousins. At 9 years old, Connor picked up a guitar and began learning with Marty Schwartz’s guitar tutorials on YouTube. Soon, Connor was performing at talent shows and within just 9 months after picking up the guitar, he played with the popular St. Louis band Trixie Delight at The Festival of The Little Hills 2010 in front of over 10,000 people. This experience was just the beginning .

Connor then began studying classical, jazz , rock , and blues with many respected guitar teachers and players in the area. He has been performing everywhere that he can since age 10 - starting at open jams and open mics, at coffee shops, restaurants and clubs, as well as talent shows, festivals and community events .

Connor quickly captured the attention and respect of the St. Louis Music community. This led to many incredible opportunities for Connor to be invited to perform as the guest guitarist with many St. Louis based bands , along with more opportunities to play at several St. Louis events and festivals. Connor's enthusiasm to learn more and work hard has also caught the attention of some of his greatest musical inspirations. He has had some incredible experiences to meet , play for and even perform with a few of them, including Eric Johnson, Dweezil Zappa, Tommy Emmanuel, Jon Anderson, Stu Hamm, Steve Vai, Andy McKee, Pat Martino, and Guthrie Govan to name a few.

One of Connor's most recent exciting guest performances was with the legendary bass player Marcus Miller at The Jazz Bistro in the summer of 2015. Connor hopes and dreams to meet and perform with many, many more.
In October of 2015 , Connor was invited to join The Brotherhood of the Guitar , which is an exclusive group that features some of best up and coming young guitarist in the world. Connor was extremely humbled and proud to meet with world renowned photographer and head of the program Robert M. Knight in Las Vegas to join the ErnieBall Musicman Guitar endorsed program. This is an extremely exciting honor and a huge blessing that will allow him to connect with other young guitarists and musicians across the world that love music and are as devoted to it as he is , as well as access to unlimited musical opportunities.

Connor has an insatiable appetite to learn and excel in music . From the stages of Lollapalooza in Chicago, or the the Fabulous Fox Theater in St. Louis , when he’s not on a main stage, Connor performs regularly all around the St. Louis area: solo, or with several acoustic duos , bands , music programs and local groups. He has recorded with many artists as a featured guitarist on their albums, and recently started writing his own music, which he plans to release in the near future .

From Jimi Hendrix to Miles Davis , Connor Low finds inspiration and influence in a myriad of musical artists. His musical style is free and limitless, like the musician himself. Rock, Jazz, Blues, Reggae, R & B, Funk, Fusion, Hip Hop, Classical, and Soul are just a sampling of the wide varieties of music that empower this young artist.

In Connor’s own words: “I want to make music that will inspire and touch future generations. I want to create music that will stand the test of time. I aspire to travel the world - performing, learning, and positively impacting people with my love of music.”

#CompanyOfThieves debut "Treasure". Catch them live on 9/14 @offbroadwaystl in #STL or 9/25 @recordbar in #KCMO

Company of Thieves debut first song in 6 years: Treasure

premiering on Consequence of Sound

Catch them in your area:

9/14 St. Louis, MO - Off Broadway

9/25 Kansas City, MO - The Record Bar

Fresh off the announcement of their reunion tour recently, indie group Company of Thieves also released their new song, "Treasure" - the first new music from the band in 6 years. Check it out on Bandcamp or Spotify if you have not already.

The news comes 10 years after their independently recorded and self-released debut record, “Ordinary Riches” was released. Premiering on Consequence of Sound, the track "Treasure" is a triumphant return for the three-piece, comprised of Genevieve Schatz, Marc Walloch and Chris Faller.

Brooding guitars and Schatz’s smoky vocals create an atmosphere akin to being caught up in a purple haze. The feelings of apprehension and anxiety are a direct result of the turmoil of our current political climate, as Schatz tells Consequence of Sound.

Schatz says the song is “a call-to-arms that was written immediately following the presidential election about being faced with a climate of fear and division and what can happen when you look inside yourself to find freedom and say yes to love.”

She explained further: “When we went to record vocals, our set-up was in Marc’s garage in LA and we were getting so much interference from radio frequencies but we didn’t let that stop us — it was like our Chicago DIY roots all over again. As we turned on the microphone, a man’s voice came on from a political radio station — he was talking about US citizens’ constitutional right to assemble, and how people were coming together to march and protest like they did back in the 60’s. He kept angrily asking, ‘Why are they doing this?’ We found his question to be a great mirror of the cultural divide and why our song was written in the first place, so instead of letting his voice silence us we decided to hit ‘record’ anyway.”

It was fate that brought two rebellious teenagers together on the train platform at Union Station in Chicago over a decade ago, as Company of Thieves’ founding members, Genevieve Schatz and Marc Walloch sat across from one another and became fast friends over a conversation about The Beatles. With two records, countless headlining tours, a late night television appearance, a charting alternative radio single “Oscar Wild" and a dream-come-true music biz discovery story under their belt, it seems that fate that has brought the cult band back from hiatus.

The band quickly became a favorite amongst the Chicago indie rock community. After scraping together recording funds, the kids took a risk and independently released their debut album “Ordinary Riches”  in 2007. They soon played SXSW, got discovered and re-released "Ordinary Riches" via Wind-Up Records in 2009, following up with their sophomore LP, "Running From A Gamble," in 2011.

With industry and personal struggles, the band took a hiatus and decided to pursue other creative outlets in 2013. Genevieve went on to release a solo EP “Show Your Colors” and tours the material accompanied by Chris. Marc released a solo record “Through The Seasons” under the moniker Spill, and also plays bass for AWOLNATION. The time spent apart for the band was an important step in each member’s journey to self-discovery, whether it be musical or personal, but ultimately, fate played it’s hand of cards.

“We had been playing music separately and had been missing each other immensely. We would run into each other at venues and shows in LA and get misty eyed,” says Gen of Marc. “One night Chris and I were driving after a show and a car clipped the back of us. It was this moment where my life flashed before my eyes, and I thought - oh my god, I miss Marc so much.”

Shortly after, the band embarked on a camping trip, where they built a fire together and expressed their longing to bring Company of Thieves back to life.

Whether it was on that train platform in Chicago on the highway in LA, or in their DIY recording studio, fate had it’s hand in bringing this esteemed tribe back together. As they say, you can never break the chain.

#PaisleyWest "Energy Exploded" Review. Expect more from them in Spring of 2018!

Paisley West is a vocally driven psychedelic band from St. Louis, Missouri. They have played since 2016 and released their first album/CD, Energy Exploded, that year. All of the songs are original and have mystical and cryptic themes. This first album features distorted guitars, sitar, and other Eastern instruments, with lead singer Paisley West providing a unique and powerful voice.

The band's third album will be a collection of original trilogies rooted in urban legend and conspiracy theories. It is expected  to be released by the Spring of 2018.

The first track "Lamp Light" has an interesting instrumental lead in just over a minute long that suits the name well. Imagine being dazed and confused. There is also a warbly sound in the backround that just fits. Then the pace picks up in the music while simultaneously this female vibrato can be heard. The song sounds like anthem. Good sounding harmonies, progressive rhythms and crisp guitar sounds can be found. The music fades out subtly.

"Breathe In" has an Asian/Eastern sounding effect at the start creating a mysterious atmosphere. The music from there is more of a slow rocker. Between the instuments and the vocals one may catch a dissonant vibe to this song. Similar to a Bowie style. The bridge contains some harmonica to mix things up before the last chorus.

"Time Release" contains a wavering guitar sound along with a real chill, down-beat. The vocals are still bright and harmonious, but track three has both an angelic tone and there are parts that are haunting-like.

"Ricochet" has solid guitar licks, funky bass and a steady beat. You might find your self singing along to the chorus by the second time around, or so.

"Open Your Mind" bounces right along and just rocks, the chorus has a dizzy, euphoric feel to it that stands out.

"Crystal Dome" is chill, it has some smooth male backround vocals and visual metaphors. The dimension of track six noteably seems to mark an audible turn into the latter part of the album.

"Marshmellow Raze" begins isolated and it's verses solitary. The chorus explodes and sounds dynamic. There is a pleasant synth outro to this song.

"I Don't Need Anyone" starts off with an acoustic guitar sound, simple percussion and some horns. The rhythm of the music then levels out and the vocals are interesting and the backrounds have a nice effect on them.

"In This Place" is a melodic rocker with cowbell and everything. This song is very psychadelic and it will make you feel like an astronaut floating around in space.

"Energy Exploded" has a seventies kind of sound to it that is appealing. The title and final track of this album has a lot of layers to it and it is a stand out song. It has a good melody with harmonies and a lot of collective ideas used musically.

#ShannonLay shares new track/video "Coast" & she'll be w/ @KevinMorby 9/13 @offbroadwaystl

Shannon Lay shares new track/video, "Coast" and is on tour with Kevin Morby now. Catch them live at Off Broadway this Wednesday, September 13th from 8 pm to 12 pm. Visit HERE for event details.

VIDEO / STREAM: "Coast" -
YouTube / Apple / BandCamp / Spotify

Shannon Lay recently announced her new LP, Living Water which will be the inaugural release on Kevin Morby's new Mare Records imprint (you can pre-order it now). Mare will operate as an imprint of the Woodsist label, which also released Morby's first two solo albums. Today Shannon shares "Coast," the second single / video from the album. ICYMI, listen to the first single, "The Moons Detriment." Shannon Lay is currently opening up for Morby on his Fall North American tour.

Bio:
"The first time I saw Shannon my heart was broken into a million pieces. I had known her from her wonderful punk band Feels as the lead guitarist who shouted back up, but I wasn't sure what to expect from her performing solo. But there she was - at a small bar in Los Angeles to maybe 15 people watching while she sat in a chair with an electric guitar on her knee, orange hair covering her face and a picture of Bart Simpson projected behind her. She began her set and my heart stopped the moment her voice leaped into the air - and I did what I do in those rare situations - I recorded it. I pulled out my phone, opened up the voice memos and recorded her whole set (the last time I had done this was three years earlier while watching Kris Kristofferson and Harry Dean Stanton do duets set at Cinefamily). After her performance I was in complete awe and wasn't sure how to approach her to convey how much I loved it. Suddenly Shannon, an acquaintance from around town, had exposed her super power and I felt instantly star struck in her presence. "I recorded your set so I could listen to it again" I told her, and then to my surprise I found myself saying "let me put out your record" and after convincing Jeremy at Woodsist to do a collaborative release with me, here it is.

Living Water is an instant classic. Recorded by Emmet Kelly (Cairo Gang, Bonnie Prince Billy, Ty Segall) in his Los Angeles home studio, this is an album where you can hear the room reacting to the music taking shape around it. Shannon has a voice that transcends time and space. You can't tell if she's old or new, if she's sitting next to you, on a mountain top, or down in some canyon. Already her second LP to be released in 2017, Shannon is a prolific songwriter, one who lives and breaths melody and with guitar skills to boot. Despite it's 14 tracks, Living Water comes in well under 40 minutes, but like Pink Moon or Just Another Diamond Day before it, this is music so potent it exists outside the realms of time - but in a world specific only to itself and the new feelings it creates.

Shannon has been dominating the local scene in Los Angeles over the past two years, leaving everyone who witnesses completely breathless. Having just finished a tour with Ty Segall, Shannon is set to support Kevin Morby on a national tour this fall."
